Independent guidance for laboratories choosing software
Lab Software Guide is an independent editorial site about laboratory software: LIMS, ELN, SDMS, CDS and the tools that sit around them. It exists for one reason: choosing lab software is a multi-year, six-figure decision, and most of the information available online is written by the vendors selling it.
We publish vendor overviews, head-to-head comparisons, buyer’s guides by lab type, pricing benchmarks and plain-language explanations of the regulations (21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, ISO 17025, ALCOA+) that shape those decisions.
What “independent” means here
- No vendor pays for inclusion, ranking or editorial position in our reviews and comparisons.
- Sponsored content, when it exists, is labelled as such on the page and is never mixed into independent reviews.
- Vendor claims are labelled as vendor claims. Where we could not verify a figure independently, we say so.
- We do not sell leads or reader data to software vendors.
- The editor has no commercial relationship with any LIMS or ELN vendor covered on the site.
How we work
Every article follows the same method, described in detail on our Methodology page: primary sources first (vendor documentation, release notes, regulatory texts), then user reviews on G2 and Capterra, then industry sources. Each article lists its sources. Articles carry a publication date and a last-updated date; we re-check vendor pages, pricing and product names at least every 6 months and after major market events (acquisitions, rebrands, product sunsets).
Who is behind Lab Software Guide
Thibaut Desseignes — Founder and editor
Thibaut has spent six years working in the laboratory software market. As head of marketing and sales at a French company building custom software, he ran in-depth benchmarks of ELN and LIMS solutions for clients who needed them, at a time when his employer did not offer these products. That work showed him how hard it is for a lab to find neutral, comparable information on vendors.
He left that role in February 2026 to launch Lab Software Guide and its French-language sister site, logiciellabo.fr, as fully independent publications for lab managers, QA leads and IT teams. He attends Forum LABO, the French laboratory trade show in Paris and Lyon, every year to meet vendors and follow product launches.
Alongside the site, he teaches business development and strategic analysis at IDRAC Business School and ICL business school in France. He also runs Salesthor, an independent B2B growth consultancy that works outside the laboratory software sector.
